Jackson's Buck. 18"x24" Oil on Canvas. This one was a commission for a friend of my daughters. He wanted to have his first buck painted. It was a fun one to paint and still stretching my artistic abilities in painting another buck.

Push Through It. Oil on Canvas. 24"square. Some paintings just don’t come as easily as others. This was one of them. I might have spent as much time staring at this one as I spent painting on it. Movement. Composition. Color balance. All these primary art concepts that kept running through my mind. After bouncing it off of a few friends I felt better about it. It can sometimes be hard to step back and outside of a painting to actually SEE it. The last picture is of me sitting and staring at the painting bc...well. It just needed some time to mull around in my head before I decided it was done. Available for purchase.

Lesson Learned. Oil on Canvas. 18"square. Private Collection & Commission. This piece is one of the very few that I will not sell. I was hired to paint an aged 80s photo. The actual image was small. The coloring was yellowed. The "client" wanted it painted 8"x8". I told her that I was not her artist as I don't paint that small and that if she wanted exactly that image then she'd be better off getting a giclee done. She refused saying that she wanted my interpretation of the picture, that she "loved my style". We parted with the verbal agreement, that was my fault, that I would paint the picture on the smallest that I would paint which is 18" square. It's not my typical subject matter nor my style but I agreed to it so I completed the painting. When I met up with the "client" to give her the painting she adamantly refused to purchase it. She said she had agreed to "exactly the same image." Which was precisely what I told her she would not be getting, that she'd get my interpretation of it. Needless to say I came home with that painting and it's a daily reminder to be true to yourself no matter how many times someone asks you to do something that is not your style.
