Intro into my creative randomness

It all begins with an idea. The first sentence was prefilled in by SquareSpace, but I liked it so I thought I’d keep it. As much as I love painting and art in general I also have quite a few other “hobbies” that can sidetrack me from painting, occasionally. I figured I’d start this blog with the intention of putting other aspects of me out there for you to see.

I like to cook, mainly for other people besides my family (other than my husband) because my girls don’t really eat anything that I cook, which is really a shame as I’ve been told as according to others I’m a good cook. Occasionally I may post a recipe that I really liked or was a total hit, mainly with my husband and myself.

I crochet, a hobby I took up while bored in the carpool line of preschool. There was only so much of my phone and social media that I could consume while idling in the carline. My fingers needed to actually move and I needed to create something, anything, while sitting on my duff listening to Audible.

I took up sewing when I was pregnant with my first, Miller. It soon turned into a mild addiction and I had the need to try to figure out embroidery as well. I still do it every once in a while but now that the girls are older and not loving a monogram as much as I do, I don’t do it quite like I used to. I also sewed and donated over 800 masks when the COVID pandemic first hit, so I hit burn out on the sewing pretty shortly after 800. I’ve kept the embroidery machine as it also sews but got rid of the rest to make room for more easels. You can’t have just one easel. It’s just like potato chips, you need more.

I do keep two easels for painting and one super large one as a drying easel. It was originally intended to be a tv stand but that’s not what I use it for. It’s nice an bulky, takes up more room than it should, but it can hang more than one piece on it at a time so I’m good with the large square footage it takes up. Plus the painting easels are on wheels so they are easier to move around my home studio depending on the size canvases I’m working on.
